A water well is a way to provide a village or a community with clean water for men, women, and children. We often take for granted the blessings of clean drinking water when so many around the world do not have it. However, with this need, life becomes much easier. We need water for drinking, for crops, for cooking, for livestock, and cleaning. Giving water to someone, a family, or a community is a SADHAQAH.
When asked what is the best charity? PBUH said, “[Providing water] is the best charity.” It is also an ongoing charity because you can use it continuously. If the water you give is for watering crops that feed a family or a community that is SADHAJAH. If it is to provide hydration to people, animals, and livestock and to save and improve lives, that is also SADHAQA JARIYAH.
Water wells provide a source of clean water to villages and communities, improving the health and quality of life of men, women, and children. Before, they would have to travel miles to collect contaminated water that is likely to carry disease.
Even if you die, you will still reap the benefits of a water well. Everyone who uses it will benefit from it, insha’Allah. That is why so many people dedicate water wells or water pumps to those who have passed away.
